August is coming to an end this week and soon the weather will start to cool down and fall will arrive. Where we are it’s too hot to even start thinking about a fall wardrobe so we like to take advantage of this time before the seasons change and wear some of our favorite summer trends and staple items.

1. Tropical prints: These colorful prints are summery and fun and will always remind us of our favorite tropical get away. They can be worn during colder months with tights and a darker palette.

IMG_6199

2. Sea-inspired fashion: We could live at the beach and love fashions that reminds us of the sea. More ideas on how to wear sea-inspired and nautical fashion here.

IMG_88551

3. Gladiator sandals: The gladiators in their many versions have ruled the sandals scene in the past several summer seasons. Both practical and chic for the hot and humid summer months, our prediction is that the gladiators are not going anywhere anytime soon!

IMG_88811

4. Cropped tops: While this is a trend that isn’t for everyone and isn’t so easily wearable, we absolutely love it for day and night. The crop top can go retro and romantic with a high-waisted midi skirt or sleek chic with wide legged trousers. Our little bit of advice is: don’t show your belly button and don’t wear the crop top with anything tight on bottom; no one wants to look like a 90’s teeny bopper!

IMG_88722

5. Oversized, colorful jewelry: The fashion world has been taken over by lavish statement making jewelry. Our favorite designer is Liat Ginzburg; she makes unique one of a kind creations that can go with anything from jeans and a T-shirt to cocktail dresses.

IMG_87723a

6. Fancy slipper flats: The pointy slipper flats are so elegant and sexy that we would wear them for evening as well!

Rony wore a backless cropped top with tropical print high waisted shorts, Liat Ginzburg necklace, yellow clutch, and pointy-toed slipper flats.

As much as we love the hustle and bustle of the city, there’s no better surprise than finding a gorgeous garden with a fish pond to get away to! This little urban jungle not far from our offices  allows us to get away for a bit and take a break from our busy schedules.

Hello fellow busy fashionistas of the world!

Our favorite kind of fashion consists of clothes that are not only chic but also comfortable and wearable; Clothes that are flattering without having to skip a meal and practical throughout a busy day. We introduce the item of the season: The slouchy trousers!

These pants meet all the aforementioned categories and also come in gorgeous prints you can mix and match for a unique look. These are great pants to transition into fall season with: Practical and breathable.

Vera wore colorful flower print trousers with a white T-Shirt, studded moccasins, piled silver necklaces and geometric drop earrings.

Since these trousers are loose and oversized, we recommend wearing something more form fitting on top, for a slim look.

Startup Nation
Israel is known worldwide for its success in high-tech development and business. The country is ranked 3rd in the region and 38th worldwide on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index, as well as in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report. It has the second-largest number of startup companies in the world (after the United States) and the largest number of NASDAQ-listed companies outside North America. That’s quite impressive for a country with a population of 8 million!

The Israeli economy was ranked as the world’s most durable economy in the face of crises, and was also ranked first in the rate of research and development center investments. Israel is well known for its innovation and development of cutting-edge technologies. For example, it is a leading country in the development of solar energy and water conservation. Some Israeli startups invented products that billions worldwide can’t live without. Case in point: Waze, the GPS application that has become a household name.

What this means for local architects like us is that more and more office towers are getting built to house all those creative minds. Innovation is apparent in the architecture as well: modern high-technology designed, ecological buildings are being built all over the city.

As architects, there’s nothing that inspires us more than an open plaza overlooking the city’s buildings – the square shapes, the different proportions, the geometries. As fashionistas, there’s nothing we love more than mixing prints and wearing things our own way.

IMG_73734

Geometric prints have ruled the fashion scene for the past couple seasons and show no sign of slowing down. Whether it was checkered dresses at Vuitton or rhombus print suits at Prada, this trend is everywhere you look! We particularly loved the pop art qualities of the lavish prints and decided to paint a picture of our own:

Affordable fashion is everything that this blog stands for! Being chic and wearing the latest styles and trends doesn’t necessarily mean you have to max out your credit card.

Affordable retailers are getting increasingly popular around the world, and more and more designers are realizing their market appeal and collaborate with these retailers on ready to wear collections: Alber Elbaz and Donatella Versace for H&M, Jason Wu for Target, Mary Katrantzou for Topshop, etc.

Even red carpet fashion is changing in this direction and more and more celebrities dare to wear affordable dresses to big Hollywood events. Nicole Richie, for example, wore a gorgeous Topshop dress to the 2013 MET Gala.

There’s something very sexy about a powerful, strong woman; one that can look out for herself and doesn’t need a man to protect her: a modern G.I Jane who can take on a military uniform as easily as she can a dress and stilettos.

We’ve already posted about how amazing the uniform trend is this season, whether it’s denim or prints. This time we went military gear in honor of one of the hottest trends of the season. It seems the army trend is always there, ready to attack; it defies seasons and is perfect for any kind of style.

Military outfits

As two girls who served in the Israel Defense Forces, we know how to work with a uniform and its color palette! The military trend is not just about camouflaged pieces but also khaki, olive green and even whites!

Wide clothes and loose items were very big in the 1970’s to the 1980’s and made a serious statement about how femininity can be interpreted and how fashion could be worn. All of a sudden, chic could be comfortable! As an ode to our revolutionary sisters who back then made changes for all of us and for generations to come, this post is all about going wide and playing with proportions.

Our style

Wide pieces can be used to conceal body parts you are not so confident about and can allow you to draw attention to what you do feel like showing off. While the overall loose outfit worked for the hippies, we are big believers in creating contrast in an outfit – wide top with slim trousers or slimming top with wide trousers. This keeps the outfit flattering and practical.

Vera wore camel wide leg trousers with a rose patterned turtleneck and two-toned camel kitten heels.

The wide lower part of the outfit made Vera’s upper body look very slim and toned and the wide trousers made her legs look very long.

IMG_63813 IMG_63711

Wearing an oversized top allows Rony to wear leggings without looking like she was on the way to the gym and keeps the outfit from looking too tight or revealing while at the same time showing off Rony’s toned physique. IMG_64331

IMG_64111 IMG_64131 IMG_64141

These outfits got us through a day at the office and after the photoshoot we strolled through the streets for the whole rest of the day. We felt completely comfortable and at ease!

Tel Aviv Living – Hashoftim St.
This quiet and charming street is populated by minimalistic apartment buildings separated from the street by beautiful gardens. Each building has its barrier of bushes and shrubs which allows for privacy, a noise buffer and green space.

IMG_63691 IMG_63681

We loved the architecture of this particular group of buildings – minimalistic and open, allowing the outside to blend into the building’s lobby.

IMG_64181The play on geometries was a nice background to our play on proportions.

IMG_63742 IMG_64001

IMG_63832

So really, proportions aren’t just in clothing and fashion but in architecture and design as well!

Happy weekend darlings!

The uniform trend is oh so hot this season!  Camouflage, military and of course the ultimate day to day uniform, denim.

There must be something about denim; other than the LBD it is the only classic we can think of that never fades from the fashion scene and is always relevant. When put together with other pieces, denim is usually the simplest and most comfortable item to wear. However, mixing denim items can get tricky, and has even been considered a faux pas. We beg to differ.

In light of the current fashion outlook of making trends personal, mixing and matching and going against the wave, we propose doing it your own way and having no reservations!  Here we (attempt to) prove that a full on denim uniform is so right and so right now.

The best tip we could give is one that we always find relevant: wear what makes you feel amazing!

Our style

This photoshoot is the opening to a new series we are launching: Tel Aviv living.
While we love and can really appreciate the fetes of architecture the city has to offer, and love shooting them for our posts – Case in point Shades of Gray which was shot at Tel Aviv’s Art Museum – we love discovering hidden urban gems. In every city we visit around the world we love discovering its true essence and true personality. We are often more drawn to the residential sites rather than to the tourist sites and always try to learn how the true “city people” live.

Tel Aviv Living – Yehuda Halevi
This street showcases an eclectic mix of old and renovated buildings. The building we chose for the shoot is eclectic in itself – a mix of classical columns, oriental bricks and arches, a minimalistic façade, and adorned with modern graffiti.

Hello boys and girls!

Winter is striking hard, even for us in Israel, where we usually enjoy warm weather year-round. The gray skies and cold winds make it so hard to get out of bed and start the day. All we want to wear are our biggest and warmest sweaters!

Big winter sweaters

Oversized, masculine clothing is very in right now and shows no intention of disappearing from the fashion forecast. Oversized pieces could be anything from jackets to skirts; from your boyfriend jeans, to your boyfriend’s never-worn sweater or some plus sized tunic that can be worn as a dress! Everything goes!
Over sized pieces can be quite tricky though; If you don’t wear them right you might look a bit… well, ridiculous! Whenever wearing something really big remember to put it together with something more form-fitting to create some contrast: a tight dress or skirt, skinny jeans or leggings will do the trick. When wearing an oversized dress or tunic a belt will do the job.

Winter outfits

Vera wore an oversized striped sweater over a striped black and white mini dress with black sheer tights, red flats, glass and metal necklace and a black and white knit scarf.

Every girl has her favorite piece of clothing, a piece that she can wear with everything for everything and that makes her feel at her best! But what do you do when your favorite piece is only suitable for warm weather? Layering!

Winter outfits

Layers are always in fashion, the more the merrier! Layering not only makes the outfit suitable for almost any weather conditions, but can also conceal certain body parts and accentuate certain parts you’d like to show off.

This allows the comeback of your favorite summer staples, but is also a very economical attitude – rather than buying new, revive your favorites by wearing them with new layers and accessories.

Rony and Vera

Rony’s favorite piece from summer is a blue and pink-collar cut out romper. To make it suitable for the cold months of winter she wore it over a striped button down blouse and print tights. Rony completed her outfit with leopard print slipper flats, cream and pink bag and neon chain necklaces.

**Tip for mixing prints**: Keep the outfit in the same color palettes or color families so that even if you wear three or more different prints, they will agree with each other rather than clash. Rony did so with her striped blouse, the same color family as her romper and trench, together with print tights that go with her bag.

Layers of pastel

Layers of prints

Vera’s favorite summer pieces are an oversized pale pink tunic and a burgundy cotton skirt. To make these items cold-weather ready she put them together with a cream knit sweater, faux fur fluffy cardigan, and light brown tights. To complete the outfit Vera wore brown brogues, black leather bag and an oversized ring pendant chain necklace.

A trench is a must during the rainy Israeli winter, so both of us topped the outfit off with our favorite trench coats.

Another great way to bring some summer sunshine into your life is by wearing bright shades of nail polish! Vera chose bright pink and Rony chose bright orange.

Hello friends!

Vera and I are currently taking part in an architecture exhibit to remodel the old city of Be’er Sheva in Israel. The opening of the exhibit took place last night and as per usual we were dressed to impress!

Here are some pictures from the opening, showing our fabulous outfits.

Vera’s project, Hidden City, deals with rundown residential areas which used to have common gardens and public space for relaxation and gathering, but which have been destroyed and diminished over the years. Vera’s proposal is to create walkways and secret gardens inside the building complexes which would allow new gathering spaces. These hot desert spaces would be shaded and cooled by dynamic shading devices that react to the sun’s path during the day.

Vera wore a print peasant dress with a studded belt and cutout cream flats. Her dress made for an interesting visual effect next to the beautiful graphic design of her display at the exhibit.

My project, Acoustic Gardens, aims to revive the old city’s rundown industrial areas where the residents suffer from horrible acoustic hazards from surrounding roads, garages, workshops, etc. My proposal is topographic gardens which create acoustic barriers from the surrounding noise and allow for an isolated quiet space. These gardens offer new quiet spaces for gathering, rest, shading and repose for all the public to enjoy. At the same time, the gardens greatly improve the quality of living for the surrounding residential areas by solving  acoustic problems and creating new green space.

I wore an A-lined turquoise dress with a pink belt, high heeled leopard print mary janes, envelope clutch, and lots of mother-of-pearl jewelry.

Follow us for more on design and architecture and of course lots of fashion! We hope to participate in many intriguing exhibitions in the future!

xoxo
