You know those days when you’re fed up with all the clothes you own and feel like wearing something new and refreshing? Both of us get in that kind of a mood every once in a while and instead of buying something new each time, our solution is to mix items in a new, unexpected way!

Our favorite combinations are made by putting our party dresses to good use and making them more day-to-day ready while giving them an extra kick of cool . What’s better than putting together your favorite T-Shirts with your hottest dresses and piling on accessories?!

As architects, there’s nothing that inspires us more than an open plaza overlooking the city’s buildings – the square shapes, the different proportions, the geometries. As fashionistas, there’s nothing we love more than mixing prints and wearing things our own way.

IMG_73734

Geometric prints have ruled the fashion scene for the past couple seasons and show no sign of slowing down. Whether it was checkered dresses at Vuitton or rhombus print suits at Prada, this trend is everywhere you look! We particularly loved the pop art qualities of the lavish prints and decided to paint a picture of our own:

Rony wore an Escher-esque print puffy sleeved dress with a checkered Prada bag, studded moccasins and lots of big and bold geometric jewelry.

Hello fashionable people!

Great fashion designers are not appraised only for the trends they create but first and foremost for the detailing of their creations. A designer piece doesn’t have to be “fashionable” per se or scream the latest trend but rather must have unique qualities all its own, whether in the fabrics, the craftsmanship, the sewing, the cuts, etc.
We love to discover and support young rising stars in the fashion industry, and one of our favorite promising young designers by far is Adi Ashur; and let’s just say we are deeply impressed! The multitalented Ms. Ashur expresses her penchant for all fields of design: jewelry, textile, structural design, in her clothes and accessories creating very interesting and unique pieces.

Adi Ashur Designs

Adi’s latest collection is a theatrical yet lavish fete of upholstery, chiffon, canvas, satin, linen, organdy, and lace, as well as feathers, metal, beads, glass, and cotton weaving.

The first dress Rony wore was a maxi satin flower print dress with sheer lining in the front. The delicate A shape of the dress is flattering on every figure and gives the illusion of a long body and never-ending legs.

Adi designed the print of the dress using graphic design softwares and then dyed the fabric herself.

Rony wore the gown with an oversized canvas flower necklace, rhinestone cuffs and rhinestone adorned briefs (all designed and created by Adi).

Rony felt like a major diva in this red carpet-ready gown!

Vera wore a pink layered skirt sewn out of upholstery, buttoned up blouse, and an 18th century-inspired flower print canvas waist coat with appliqués. The look was completed with a bright pink cuff and pastel colored leggings.

Clothes like these require a very unique backdrop. And so we visited Tel Aviv’s Florentine neighborhood, a bustling center of design studios, workshops and furniture shops.

Out and About in Florentine

Florentine, Tel Aviv

The walls of most streets in this neighborhood are adorned with graphic designs, ads, writings and graffiti. This isn’t like any graffiti we’d seen before though, the graphics in this neighborhood are true works of art!

Florentine street art

Needless to say we felt like real stars walking down the streets of Florentine in Adi’s amazing creations! Thank you Adi!

What We Wear and Adi Ashur

What We Wear and fashion designer Adi Ashur

The inspiration for Adi’s latest collection came from old circus posters and the retro graphic quality they had. The posters announced the arrival of a new circus and the feeling of a magical phenomenon filled with lights and colors. Adi wanted to create in her collection the effect of walking placards, prints patterns and textures that become three dimensional, come alive and assume a life of their own. In her prints, cuts and techniques Adi brought the old circus into the 21st century.

It's a wrap!

What We Wear was in attendance as Maya Negri showcased her new collection for an intimate and exclusive crowd of celebs, fashion people, and internationally renowned bloggers.

The clothes and accessories were gorgeous, the music was awesome and the vibes were fun!

Maya Negri is an Israeli fashion designer whose unique line incorporates design, innovation and top quality all natural fabrics. True to the Israeli minimalist look, the collection featured a lot of monochromatic pieces -black, gray, cream and brown. The shapes and cuts of the clothes, however, make them very feminine and delicate.

This event was part of “Vibe Israel”, a blessed project launched as part of the effort of Nonprofit organization Kinetis. Kinetis is an organization dedicated to promoting the recognition of Israel internationally as a vibrant and inspirational source of creativity. As part of “Vibe Israel”, Kinetis invited five bloggers who are extremely influential in the fashion and design world, to learn, experience and document the creative side of the country. We were honored to take part in this project as we too believe that while it isn’t recognized as a fashion capital, Tel Aviv is progressive, innovative, and inspiring.

During the event we mingled with local fashion people and of course with the fashion bloggers.

One very important tip we got from one of our favorite fashion bloggers, Daniel Dykes, was that success in this kind of media comes from doing your own unique thing and knowing the right people, like lot of other things in life! Hopefully someday the “right people” will take a chance on us

Vera and Daniel P Dykes of fashionising.com

Rony even got herself a goodie: Gray felt cropped vest!

Here’s how we dressed to impress:
Vera wore a flapper style shift dress adorned with stones, knit cardigan, leather satchel, and mustard kitten heels.

Rony wore an asymmetric shift dress, print scarf, men’s hat, vintage heels, woven clutch, and golden cuffs.

Keep it simple and stay fabulous!

Hello friends!

We have recently noticed that Vogue magazine, in its fashion spreads, has been noting not only which designer the clothes featured were designed by, but also the models wearing them. This goes to show that the model wearing the clothes matters; She (or he) is no longer just a hanger but a personality that is just as important in making the outfit what it is. Anyone can buy the latest trends, if not by the designer who made them then by the million stores that imitate them. However, not everyone can wear the latest trends and own them and make them all their own. In a world where the most successful pop stars are the kookiest (case in point Lady Gaga and Nikki Minaj) and fashion bloggers become style icons, we are entering an era of personal style where the statement matters more than the clothes.

In that spirit, the current rage in the fashion world is prints: the more the merrier, bold prints mixed together against all rhyme or reason. In this trend all rules go out the window; forget what you’ve been told before about what “clashes”, now it’s up to you to put together whatever you see fit and whatever makes you happy! What an exciting time!! Mixed Prada prints at London fashion week. Photo courtesy of vogue.com.

We decided to dedicate a post to this because we’ve always believed that it’s all about the person wearing the clothes and how they put their outfit together. Vera Watts is a Russian Born fashionista who was raised in Israel, grew up on punk rock, loves cats and has a background in modeling. Ever the punky funky chick, Vera always likes to put together outfits that keep everyone on their toes. This time she chose a totally unique look by putting together prom queen chic with punky accessories. Vera wore a sheer polka dot blouse over a print dress. She accessorized with a plastic and metal necklace, studded belt, and studded leather moccasins. Rony Shapira was raised in the United States, has been putting together outfits for herself and others since the age of three, collects fashion magazines obsessively, and has a background in art which won her nationwide awards and recognition. Always a lady, Rony has always been into the retro feminine look. This time she chose retro 70s, a look that is very big right now, and put a girly twist on the flower children chic. Rony wore a toucan print peplum blouse with heart print cropped pants. She accessorized with a rope and gold necklace, big cocktail rings, silk hair tie, and peep toe booties.
Besides being fashion fanatics, Vera and Rony aspire to open an architecture firm together. What about you? Tell us about yourself and your personal style statement!

Go on and shock everyone with your most plentiful and print-full outfit! Don’t forget to dare and let your personality shine!
