Eighties Babies

Now that Vera is a mommy (what a MILF), we’ve been getting very nostalgic about our childhoods and how our mothers used to be, and how they used to dress. We love digging up old photos of our mothers and seeing how glamorous and stylish they were, and still are today.

Since we were born in the eighties, we decided to do a post inspired by eighties fashion, and how it can be relevant today.

Rony wore a vintage velvet and leather top with pleather leggings, peep toe wedges, a turban, and piled on the jewelry.

Rony’s look is very bold and fierce so to keep it from looking too over the top she added some oriental inspired touches, like the turban and the hand-made coral bracelet she got in Thailand.

Good styling is all about proportions. The big broad shoulders and masculine cut of Rony’s top goes best with a skinny proportion on the bottom. Adding a waist cinching belt gives the top a feminine, sexy touch.

Vera wore a colorful print sweater, patterned hip hugging skirt, patterned tights, leather moccasins, and oversized earrings.

Next time, instead of wearing plain black tights mix it up with patterned ones to make the outfit more bold, interesting, and fun.

In case you hadn’t noticed, Vera’s post baby makeover included a fabulous new haircut, which actually suited our 80’s theme perfectly!

Our outfits included items that we so happily inherited from our mothers’ wardrobes: Vera’s statement earrings and Rony’s bold top.

OMG that first line is hilarious! You two look great, and I like how you are inspired by the time period you grew up in. Loving your new haircut, Vera! My favorite time period was the 50’s, it was such a drastic change in fashion led by Dior and Balenciaga. Oh how I wish I could visit that time.

    • we always have a ton of fun, that’s for sure ๐Ÿ™‚
      thanks so much Cha Cha!

  14. To me, the best fashion decade is the ’80s because all these inspiring designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Alaรฏa and Thierry Mugler invented a new bold silhouette for powerful women (MILFs included LOL). With your statement pieces, it seems as if you mixed the best of the ’80s to create 2 astonishing looks ! You are Absolutely Fabulous !!! XOXO

    • that is exaclty why we love the 80’s, because they brought along a new fierce and sexy look and a bold silhouette that was reserved only for men until that time. that is exactly what we tried to capture in this post so we are so happy that you appreciated that!
      thanks so much!!

  15. This is so great! So glad to see you guys rockin turbans like it ain’t no thang!

Also–I dig ’60s mod, ’70s rocker chic, and ’90s grunge. Basically, anything that’s a conglomeration of all things rock n’ roll I’m down with!

    • thank you so much, we’ve been pretty obsessed with turbans lately!
we agree, fashion infused with a bit of rock n roll is always fun!

  23. The 80s rocked and so dd your outfits. Even though the 80s is labelled as ‘The Decade That Style Forgot’, it was so much fun and fearless and you can pick and choose the best from it to make it work in the now. I like the fun playful print 80s outfit, the black and pink graphic print jumper and loud print skirt, but I also like the sexy black and red look, reminds me a bit of Sandra D at end of Grease!x
