This was a very fun and inspired week for What We Wear as we attended “Flash”, a fashion event that promotes young up and coming designers.

Flash Fashion Event

The event featured the latest collections in clothing, jewelry, outerwear and even tights. All the gorgeous creations on sale were definitely a sight for sore eyes!

Among our favorite collections on display at the event:
Petitaureau: A jewelry and accessories label designed by the talented Mayan Hazan which features ultra feminine and delicate items with admirable attention to details. Everything from the pendants (or pin) to the clasps is adorned with hearts, stars, skulls, etc. Adorable!

Itay Gonen Accessories: An eponymous label offering serious statement making jewelry made from a variety of materials. This is the kind of jewelry that could make an entire outfit, no need for anything else!

Ida Nudel: Remember our lavish photoshoot with fashion designer Adi Ashur? Ida Nudel was her classmate at Wizo Design Academy, and is just as talented. On display were feminine and adorable tops, dresses and pants. We were really impressed by the craftsmanship of Ida’s collection, particularly the hand-sewn jackets! Gorgeous works of art!

Some other designer highlights were Guapa, a collection dedicated to leggings, in every color and every print! The designer was just as cool as her pieces.

Miki B‘s collection offers beautiful clothes in so many colors and prints. Our favorite was a fluffy, sparkly, multicolored number that we wish we would’ve found before New Year’s Eve; it would’ve been the perfect piece to wear!

Lately fashion has been all about the opulent, the festive and glamorous, the excessive, the Baroque. Designers everywhere have been sending their models down the catwalk in clothes, shoes and accessories rich enough to suit 19th century duchesses.

While we adore this trend, not all of us regular day fashionistas have the guts, the confidence, the money and the body to pull off head to toe baroque like certain Vogue editors (ehemm Anna Dello Russo).

For us, practicality is usually the top priority and we must find a way to put together an outfit that -while never neglecting bon chic- works around the clock for our hectic schedules. While over the top always makes a statement, it must also be accessible.

Vera’s favorite Baroque pieces in her wardrobe are a knit golden threaded pullover and a purple rope and gold necklace.

Vera went for the cool biker chic look, choosing mostly blacks to offset the dramatic pieces. Under the knit cardigan she wore a sheer top which made the outfit more romantic, leather jacket, dark jeans, and faux-fur trimmed booties.

Vera’s necklace is such a show maker she didn’t need any other major accessories.

Rony’s favorite Baroque pieces are a brownish gray lace dress and gold and emerald earrings.

Rhinestones, gold and emeraldPeplum and lace

Rony’s dress, with its feminine lace and curve hugging shape is too provocative to be worn during the daytime. Rony made the dress more demure by wearing a peplum rhinestones-adorned blouse.

The glamorous look can be achieved with just a few key items that keep everyone on their toes, yet don’t look overdone.

Rain drops keep falling on my head… but that don’t mean my eyes will soon be turning red!

Winter is here! Of course Europe and the US have been enjoying wintery weather for a while now but Israel has only started getting rain and cold in recent months. So finally it’s time for us to break out the scarves, boots, umbrellas and our all time favorite winter must-have, the trench coats!

Made a style icon by Burberry, the trench coat is a must have for every winter wardrobe and goes with everything for everything: day to evening, high to low. This kind of fabulousness makes us wish it was raining all the time… ok well maybe not all the time!

What We Wear was in attendance as Maya Negri showcased her new collection for an intimate and exclusive crowd of celebs, fashion people, and internationally renowned bloggers.

The clothes and accessories were gorgeous, the music was awesome and the vibes were fun!

Maya Negri is an Israeli fashion designer whose unique line incorporates design, innovation and top quality all natural fabrics. True to the Israeli minimalist look, the collection featured a lot of monochromatic pieces -black, gray, cream and brown. The shapes and cuts of the clothes, however, make them very feminine and delicate.

This event was part of “Vibe Israel”, a blessed project launched as part of the effort of Nonprofit organization Kinetis. Kinetis is an organization dedicated to promoting the recognition of Israel internationally as a vibrant and inspirational source of creativity. As part of “Vibe Israel”, Kinetis invited five bloggers who are extremely influential in the fashion and design world, to learn, experience and document the creative side of the country. We were honored to take part in this project as we too believe that while it isn’t recognized as a fashion capital, Tel Aviv is progressive, innovative, and inspiring.

During the event we mingled with local fashion people and of course with the fashion bloggers.

One very important tip we got from one of our favorite fashion bloggers, Daniel Dykes, was that success in this kind of media comes from doing your own unique thing and knowing the right people, like lot of other things in life! Hopefully someday the “right people” will take a chance on us

Vera and Daniel P Dykes of fashionising.com

Rony even got herself a goodie: Gray felt cropped vest!

Here’s how we dressed to impress:
Vera wore a flapper style shift dress adorned with stones, knit cardigan, leather satchel, and mustard kitten heels.

Rony wore an asymmetric shift dress, print scarf, men’s hat, vintage heels, woven clutch, and golden cuffs.

Keep it simple and stay fabulous!

Whether you won it in some contest, borrowed it from your boyfriend, or wore it only around the house, every T-shirt has a story, which makes them more sentimental than most items in your closet. Plus, T-shirts are some of the most comfortable clothes you could own; they require no effort, you just put them on and go. But can T-shirts be chic and stylish? Absolutely!

When worn with such feminine skirts, the T-shirts make the outfit cool and unexpected. Putting together an elegant item with a casual or athletic item makes the outfit more relaxed and cool and appropriate for almost any occasion.
Here are some of our favorite T-shirts and how we made them look chic:

Outfit 1: Mad as a hatter

Vera wore a Civilian army green sleeveless T-shirt with a form fitting black zippered skirt, cropped vest, gold link necklace and platform booties

I wore a print T-shirt with a vintage puffy skirt, link stretch belt, top hat and strappy high heeled sandals.

Outfit 2: Candy Colors

Vera wore a yellow printed Civilian T-shirt with a green wash denim skirt, studded belt, beaded necklace, and leather moccasins

A great way to dress up a T-shirt outfit is by wearing big bold accessories. We did so with our belts, shoes and eye catching jewelry.

I wore a printed fuchsia T-shirt (worn tied up) with a high waisted studded skirt, glasses necklace, zebra ring and studded canvas moccasins

Outfit 3: Play on Plaid

Vera wore a printed glitter T-shirt, plaid A-line skirt, orange leather belt, beaded necklace, and plaid peep toes

It’s a common and outdated cliché that different prints and clashing colors don’t go together. That cliché has been proven wrong, so don’t be afraid of mixing patterns and prints! Just make sure to keep some of the prints calmer to emphasize a certain item or piece of clothing.

I wore a light blue Civilian T-shirt, plaid high waisted skirt, leather studded belt, metal and plastic collar necklace, zebra ring, and strappy high heeled sandals

This is a fashion tip that is relevant to both ladies and gents: pick your favorite, coolest T-shirts and put them together with a more posh item from your wardrobe, add some bold accessories and voila, a look that’ll take you from day to evening!
In the words of fashion guru Tim Gunn, “make it work people!”

Vera & Rony, What We Wear

You don’t have to be rich to look like a billion dollars! Coco Chanel, the epitome of style and chic said “a girl should be two things, classy and fabulous.” We absolutely agree and to us being posh and exuding opulence is all in how you carry yourself.

For our day looks we both wore form fitting dresses with flared overlay. These dresses accentuated our curves and made us feel feminine and confident.

Vera wore her strappy navy version with rhinestone and topaz tear drop earrings and pendant necklace, moonstone amethyst and peridot cocktail rings and bow tie suede pumps.

I wore my red version with a black 80′s hat, ruby rhinestone and diamond necklace and earrings, ruby and rhinestone cocktail rings and leopard print platform mary janes.

For evening we chose dresses that reveal on top but are long and dressy. These dresses are cut to show off a long neck and frame the upper body nicely for a classy, poised look.

Vera wore a blue satin dress with a thin black belt, ruby rhinestone and diamond earrings, sapphire peridot and rhinestone cocktail rings and navy pumps.

I wore a ballerina-like halter dress with a skirt overlay with a semiprecious stone drop pendant necklace, sapphire and amethyst cocktail rings and suede cutout heels.

Take some time off and pamper yourself with wine, fashion magazines, and lots of art for inspiration! You deserve it!

We truly hope that spring has arrived to your home town because it surely hit ours!

The lovely warm weather and all the flowers that are blooming right now make us crave flowy dresses, hats and of course our favorite accessory- vests. So of course we decided to go boho chic on this post and show you how the look can be achieved.

Rony wore an  A-lined collar navy and white checkered dress. The layers of the dress along with the striped brownish gray vest looked fabulous on Rony and really flattered her shape. She wore nomad-like suede flat booties and a men’s straw panama hat. Sometimes it’s fun to steal from the boys, masculine accessories give feminine dresses a cool twist.

I wore a long floral dress sewn by none other than my mother and moi! The short puffy sleeves of the dress flatter my arms and the high waisted shape combined with the long length would give anyone a beautifully long silhouette. My strappy camel wedges probably helped with the long silhouette :) But flats will look fabulous as well!

Oh the bohemian life… flowy dresses, cool jewelry, awesome music and art and a chilled lifestyle.. sound good? Sounds amazing to us!

So take a walk on the beach, enjoy the sand and the breeze and the sun! But don’t forget to stop for some refreshments in the hot weather!

We may call ourselves “fashionistas” but that doesn’t mean we like to take ourselves too seriously. We love fooling around and even acting immature sometimes; age is but a number!

Since we were pretty much style obsessed as soon as we came out the womb, for this photoshoot we decided to revisit our little girl selves. The wooden playground we visited happens to also be an absolutely gorgeous backdrop for our fabulous outfits.

A true girl’s girl, Vera always loved tutus and lots of pink. The pink tutu miniskirt she wore here is cute and girly, but also has romantic and antique qualities. With it she wore a knit net blouse over a button down shirt. She put her hair up in little buns just as she did when she was little. To complete the look she wore a pearl and flowers necklace and black and cream patent flats.

The print knit vest I wore looks exactly like the one I had in preschool, fashion does repeat itself! I wore the vest over a striped button down shirt with peach shorts and leopard print booties. I completed the look with a large pastel stones drop necklace, big rings and of course my oversized bow hair tie.

A styling tip we borrowed from our kid selves is wearing lots of pastels. They don’t even have to “match”, but lots of light candy colors are eye catching and flattering, and totally right for summer.

An interesting way of layering clothes is wearing long over short, like Vera did with her cropped vest over a long button down shirt over her short skirt. This creates beautiful volume in the outfit and makes it unexpected.

So when life gets a little too serious, we recommend making a play date with your friends and having lots of childish fun! We played so nice we even got a lollipop treat!

Hello boys and girls,

On a recent episode of 90210, AnnaLynne McCord’s character Noami wore my necklace!!!
Well the one she wore wasn’t mine per say but was the same as the one I have :)
I got this H&M necklace in Bracelona last fall, which of course adds a cool factor.

I wore it first Naomi!
What can I say, the show’s stylist has a great taste in jewelry :) and this goes to show that even on a  television series that can afford designer clothes for the stars to wear, sometimes low budget can be even more fabulous and fashionable!

Until next time,

xoxo

The upcoming holidays are the perfect opportunity to spend festive quality time with your family.
Vera and I decided to share our outfits for our families’ celebrations of Passover.

Vera wore a sheer chiffon button down blouse with a polka dot 50′s inspired high waisted skirt and bow belt with stiletto heels.
I wore a form fitting dress with a white collar and puffy sleeves. I wore peach heels and gold necklace and bangles.

What do you wear to family celebrations?
Happy Passover and Easter and happy spring everybody!

xoxo Vera & Rony
